Woodworking Hot Melts

Woodworking hot melts need to be suitable for different production processes and matched materials. They are especially useful in edge banding and profile wrapping, providing steadiness, safety and good appearance.

NOVARES resins will help to meet these needs and enable development technologists to create improved formulations for demanding applications.

Woodworking hot melts for

  • edge banding
  • surface and edge lamination
  • profile wrapping
  • construction adhesives

The following benefits can be achieved with NOVARES resins:

  • improved heat resistance, adhesion and application rate
  • adjustment of hot tack and rheology
  • adjustment of open time
  • adjustment of EVA compatibility
  • improved resistance to water and chemicals

    Example: EVA-based Adhesives

Due to their very good compatibility with EVA at high softening points up to 160°C NOVARES TN 110 - TN 160 resins are the materials of choice to start with in woodworking applications. With this resin, EVA-based hot melt adhesives are produced for edge banding or profile wrapping.

    Example: APAO-based Adhesives

In the production of hot melt adhesives based on nonpolar polyolefins, highly compatible aliphatic C5 resins are used. The addition of aromatic NOVARES resins such as TV 120 achieves increased thermal stability and less open time, among other benefits.
